2015 Silverado Custom Sport Package Recalls Classic Chevy Pickup

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 with Custom Sport special edition package

The new 2015 Silverado Custom Sport special edition from Chevrolet pays tribute to one of the American automaker’s most iconic pickups: the Chevy Custom Sport Truck, which helped launch personal-use pickups back in the late 1960’s.

Double- and crew-cab 2015 Silverados equipped with the Custom Sport special edition package will feature body-colored front and rear bumpers, a body-colored grille surround and chrome-accented black grille, 20-inch chrome wheels, chrome door handles and mirror caps, and chrome body-side moldings. The 2015 Silverado Custom Sport special edition will also be equipped with project beam headlamps, tow hooks, and heated power-adjusted mirrors. While the heated mirrors aren’t exactly a blast-from-the-past, the overall look was influenced by the classic Chevy pickups from 50 years ago.

“The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director, in a statement about the new package. “Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”

The redesigned 1967 Chevy Custom Sport Truck featured a bright trim, plush carpet, and bucket seats, and its popularity helped the pickup truck make its transition from professional worksites to suburban garages.

The 2015 Silverado Custom Sport Package will be available as LT (in white or black) and LTZ (in black or White Diamond Tricoat) models, including Z71s. The package prices range from $1,950 to $2,950, depending on the model, and dealers can start placing orders this month.
