2015 Sonata with Apple CarPlay Functionality Sets Sedan Apart
The all-new 2015 Hyundai Sonata debuted yesterday at the New York International Auto Show in New York City. According to the automaker, drivers will be able to elect to get the 2015 Sonata with Apple CarPlay functionality for a safer and easier driving experience. Hyundai reports that Apple CarPlay gives iPhone users the features they want while allowing them to stay focused on driving.
Apple CarPlay in the Sonata will take advantage of the Audi Video Navigation system, which has a mighty useful and incredibly vivid eight-inch touchscreen. Via CarPlay and this touchscreen, drivers will be able to place calls, use Maps, listen to their music, and accept messages, among other common tasks. Appleās leading lady, Siri, can even respond to drivers through voice commands and is accessed via a steering wheel button, meaning that users can keep both hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road.
CarPlay uses a Lighting connector, making it compatible with the iPhone 5s, 5c, and 5, as long as they are on the latest version of iOS 7.
By equipping the 2015 Sonata with Apple CarPlay, Hyundai has earned an advantage over most other automakers. In fact, Hyundai is one of the very first volume manufacturers to bring CarPlay to market. The 2015 Sonata will be available later in the 2015 model year.
