From the outside, the 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid looks like a Camry. We know, you’re shocked. But just like its gasoline counterpart, the Camry Hybrid has received a mid-generation refresh that makes it a little less bland-looking than its predecessor. A new grille borrowed from Lexus designs adorns the front of the car, giving it a much more striking look than before. Additionally, you’ll find slimmer rear lights and new alloy wheel designs, among other design changes.

While the Camry Hybrid appears identical to its gasoline cousin on the outside, one look under the hood will tell you otherwise. This vehicle is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine that features EV and ECO modes for even more efficient driving.  The electric portion is powered by a sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery. The engine is mated to an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that sends power to the front wheels.

Now we come to the real reason you’d choose a Camry Hybrid over a regular Camry—efficiency. The entry-level LE trim offers 43 mpg city and 39 mpg highway for a combined rating of 41 mpg. Moving up to the SE and XLE trim levels will get you 40 mpg city and 38 mpg highway for a combined rating of 40 mpg. If that doesn’t convince you that switching to hybrid is well worth the extra upfront cost, we don’t know what will.
