2015 Toyota Sienna

What’s New for the 2015 Toyota Sienna?

The Toyota Sienna minivan has been given a design refresh for 2015, and is being marketed as an exciting and cool “Swagger Wagon” rather than a dull and embarrassing “minivan.” But no matter how you dress it up, it’s still an ultra-practical minivan.

2015 Toyota Sienna Exterior

For 2015, the Toyota Sienna gets revamped headlights on the SE and Limited trims, and a new grille and new taillights on all trim levels except the SE. One new feature to note is the availability of Daytime Running Lights, which—until now—was a pipe dream for Toyota minivan fans. The overall look of the 2015 Toyota Sienna remains fairly similar to the previous model, with projector-beam halogen headlights, dual-sliding side doors, and an available power tilt/slide sunroof.

2015 Toyota Sienna Performance

The 2015 Toyota Sienna isn’t the fastest of vehicles, but most people interested in buying a minivan aren’t particularly concerned about that. The Sienna’s 3.5-liter V6 engine carries over from 2014, and produces 266 horsepower, which is about average for its segment. Toyota has refined the Sienna’s suspension, so expect the handling and ride to be smoother and more pleasant than previously. Every Sienna model comes with a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels, although you have the option of choosing all-wheel drive if you so wish.

2015 Toyota Sienna Efficiency

Efficiency isn’t really something you’d expect from a minivan, and the 2015 Sienna doesn’t disappoint. An EPA-estimated 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway isn’t as bad as, say, a huge truck, but it’s still not anything in particular to be excited about. However, this fuel economy rating is average for this segment, so it’s unlikely you’ll find a minivan that’s much more efficient than the 2015 Sienna.

2015 Toyota Sienna Interior

The interior is where the 2015 Toyota Sienna sees the most changes from its predecessor. Drivers will now get a panoramic rearview camera as a standard feature, as well as soft-touch surfaces throughout that make the minivan quite inviting. You have the option of choosing leather upholstery for extra comfort, and other options include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a conversation mirror, and a Blu-Ray rear-seat entertainment system. But the real draw to the 2015 Sienna is the brand spankin’ new feature Toyota calls Driver Easy Speak, which allows parents to amplify their voices through the rear speakers to get the attention of rear-seat passengers (read: unruly kids) more easily.

2015 Toyota Sienna Safety

As with any family car, Toyota has made safety a priority in the 2015 Sienna. The minivan boasts eight airbags, which is one more than the 2014 model. The airbags have also been enlarged to provide additional safety in case of an accident. It also comes with four sets of LATCH child seat connectors (again, one more than last year), so families with lots of infants can strap them in safely and securely. Although the 2015 Sienna hasn’t yet been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it’s expected to get the top rating of “Good” as its predecessor did. And in government crash testing, it’s expected to get an overall five-star rating.
