2015 Toyota Yaris

What’s New for the 2015 Toyota Yaris?

The Toyota Yaris is a fairly popular fixture on today’s roads. It’s not usually to catch a glimpse—or two, or three—of this subcompact hatchback every time you’re on the road. Its maneuverable size, fun personality, and high fuel economy ratings have made the Yaris a hit in today’s market. And now, the Japanese automaker has unveiled a revamped version of its smallest offering, set to debut at dealerships on August 3, 2014.

2015 Toyota Yaris Exterior

The most striking difference between the 2014 and 2015 Toyota Yaris hatchback is on the outside. Its new, larger grille is accented with a chrome treatment, and runs seamlessly into the car’s headlamps for a more streamlined look. A large bumper opening beneath the grille gives the Yaris a more aggressive stance than in previous models; not dissimilar from the Avalon and refreshed Camry sport. The base L Yaris comes with Daytime Running Lights and 15-inch wheels, while the mid-range LE adds alloy wheels. The sporty SE model counts 16-inch alloy wheels, integrated fog lamps, and projector headlamps among its standard features. Choose from a 3-door or 5-door model to suit your needs.

2015 Toyota Yaris Performance

The 2015 Toyota Yaris carries its engine over from the previous model. This 106-hp 1.5 liter four-cylinder motor makes 103 lb-ft of torque, which is about average for this segment. The 2015 Toyota Yaris comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission, but you can opt for a four-speed automatic if you prefer. For 2015, Toyota has added more sound insulation to the suspension, making for a smoother ride with reduced noise. If you prefer your rides on the sportier side, choosing the SE model will get you a sport-tuned suspension.

2015 Toyota Yaris Efficiency

While the 2015 Yaris’ EPA-estimated fuel economy falls slightly short of its competitors, that doesn’t mean it’s not impressive. The Yaris offers 30 mpg city/37 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.

2015 Toyota Yaris Interior

Inside the 2015 Toyota Yaris hatchback, you’ll notice additional touches here and there that make the 2015 model more comfortable and inviting than ever. The most notable feature standard in all models is Toyota’s Entune Audio with a 6.1-inch touchscreen, six speakers, AM/FM radio with CD/MP3 player, HD Radio, UBS port, and Bluetooth. Additionally, you can choose to have a dealer-installed navigation system added for the first time ever in a Yaris.

Additionally, power windows and door locks, and air conditioning are now standard on all models, including the base L. Upgrade to the LE and you’ll get cruise control, power mirrors, steering-wheel audio controls, and remote keyless entry. The sporty SE trim adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, unique seating fabric, and gloss-black interior accents.

2015 Toyota Yaris Safety

Nine airbags are standard in the 2015 Toyota Yaris. Additionally, you’ll find antilock brakes, and an electronic stability control system. The 2015 Yaris received four out of five stars overall from NHTSA, with its side-crash test rating at the maximum five stars.
