If you thought the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in the current European Audi RS7 delivered sufficient power, it seems Audi would agree with you, as we’ve just learned it will continue to use that same powertrain in the next model. And given that it cranks out 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic, who are we to object?
That being said, if the lack of engine upgrade does irk you, the 2016 Audi RS7 Sportback comes with numerous tweaks and updates that can help you forget about it. For example, buyers will now be able to opt for adaptive dampers, dynamic steering, carbon-ceramic brakes, 21-inch wheels, a differential on the rear axle, and a top speed raised to 190 mph from 174.
Interior and exterior tweaks upgrades are present as well. The bottom of the grille now features a horizontal section with an emblazoned Quattro logo, flanked by new Matrix LED headlights. Inside, the shift paddles and air-con vents are reshaped, and the RS7 has adopted the new MMI system from the new A7 and S7 (including 4G LTE connectivity) and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
All in all, the 2016 Audi RS7 may have the same powertrain as its predecessor, but it’s a completely different—and better—car. We can only hope it’ll show up on our side of the pond sometime soon!
