If you are shopping for a powerful BMW fit for the track and the M4 is a bit too large, rejoice! The all-new 2016 BMW M2 was just revealed, and it is a small coupe with enough power under the hood to blow away the critics and the engine noise to drown out the rest of the naysayers.

Equipped with a new turbocharged six-cylinder inline gasoline engine, the 2016 BMW M2 achieves 365bhp at 6,500 rpm and 343 lb-ft of torque. This new engine was designed to handle the demands of track day, as it is equipped with a modified oil sump to keep the engine performing at its peak no matter what. If you love sports cars, but aren’t too great at driving a manual transmission, that’s ok. The new model will be available with an automatic transmission option.

It doesn’t hurt that this powerful car is a beauty. Take a look at some of M2 photos released today by BMW:

When you’re driving 0-60 mph in about 4.3 seconds when properly equipped, you can recline in comfort with black Dakota leather seats. The BMW M2 will also be available with the award-winning BMW ConnectedDrive infotainment system to keep you entertained no matter where you’re driving. Apps available on ConnectedDrive will record vehicle performance while at the track with stats about gear shifts, steering angle, acceleration, speed, fuel consumption, and more, which will allow drivers to learn how to change the way they drive for better results.

So far, the only thing that we’re not a fan of is that this powerful machine is electronically limited to 155 mph. It’s probably for the best, though. Who would be able to resist putting the pedal to the metal while driving a car like the BMW M2?
