2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Pictures Leaked
Look out, BMW M4: there’s a new cat in town. The long-awaited 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe pictures are trickling out all across the internet, and at first glance, things look pretty good. We’re talking 450 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque pretty good. Compared to the measly (although not really) 425 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque boasted by the M4, it certainly would appear that Cadillac has the upper hand here.
The coupe’s power comes from a version of the 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that’s found in the CTS Vsport, and the engine is rumored to be mated with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The horsepower is also helped along by the addition of titanium connecting rods, two water-to-air intercoolers, titanium turbines, and a second radiator created solely for keeping the electronic locking differential and gearbox cool.
The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe is part of Caddy’s aim to become a direct competitor of certain German luxury brands. While the coupe clearly outshines the BMW M4, it falls slightly behind its other main competitor—the Mercedes AMG C63—which has an almost unbelievable output of 469 or 503 hp, depending on the model.
Even falling short of the AMG C63, the ATS-V Coupe will be a worthy rival, and a welcome addition to Cadillac’s lineup. As the brand continues its makeover, we look forward to seeing what else it has up its sleeve for us to drool over.
