Earlier today, we told you that the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V.R would be debuting side-by-side with the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Well, aren’t we just a sorry sack of liars? Technically, the car will be making its official public debut at LA, but today, Cadillac gave us a sneak preview of the all-new ATS-V.R, the racing variant of the ATS-V Coupe, at the Circuit of America.

We’ve finally got some numbers for the new racer, and we think you’ll like them. The Twin Turbo 3.6-liter V6 has been given the racing treatment and renamed the LF4.R, good for up to 600 horsepower. The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V.R also boasts competition engine management; direct, side-exiting exhaust; larger, twin BorgWarner turbochargers; and increased capacity intercoolers. The ATS-V racing variant carries a 49% front/51% rear weight distribution.

The model received a number of changes to make it FIA GT3 compliant, including an aero kit, a carbon fiber front splitter, and redesigned fenders to fit the mandated tires.

“This car sounds wicked and screams like it’s ripping holes in the air. I love it,” commented Andy Pilgrim, a Cadillac Racing driver. “We have paddle gear shifters for the first time, and I’m enjoying the new tools. The engine torque is remarkable, as always, pulling strongly out of the corners.”

According to GM, the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V.R meets all international FIA GT3 specifications, meaning that this baby could compete in more than 30 GT series worldwide, taking on competitors from Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, McLaren, and more.

If you’re trekking out to the LA Auto Show this month, the ATS-V.R is a smokin’ hot must-see. But don’t worry: the fire department will be standing by.
