2016 Cadillac CT6 Debut Set for New York International Auto Show

Rumor has it that the 2016 Cadillac CT6 debut has been set for next April at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) and will then be released to dealerships in the fourth quarter of next year. The Cadillac CT6 has been the talk of the town lately (really, ever since we learned it was called the CT6, and not the LTS). The CT6 ushers in a completely new naming system for Cadillac, spearheaded by Johan de Nysschen, the new company president.

Also of note is the CT6’s weight. Reportedly, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will not only weigh less than its competitors (Cadillac is aiming to tackle cars such as the BMW 7 Series, the Audi A8, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and the Lexus LS), but it will also weigh less than the 2015 Cadillac CTS, which is positioned in a lower class. Even more impressive, the Cadillac CTS is the lightest car in its segment, meaning that not only will the CT6 be lighter than every model in its own segment, but also every model in a segment below it.

People are also getting amped for the tech aspects of the Cadillac CT6, among them the massage chairs and Super Cruise. And then there’s the engine—the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6—which will be the most powerful V6 in the segment. But, you know, if you’re more of a green driver, never fear, as Cadillac will be offering a plug-in hybrid variant as well, good for around 70 MPGe.

And that’s just all we’ve learned between the end of September and now. There’s plenty more digging to do in the next four months leading up to NYIAS.
