Editors from WardsAuto spent February and March evaluating 47 vehicles with either all-new or significantly redesigned interiors, and the 2016 Camaro SS was one of the vehicles that made the magazine’s annual list of 10 Best Interiors.

The interiors were judged on design harmony, aesthetics, and the quality of materials used inside the cabin. Editors paid particular attention to each cabin’s fit-and-finish, comfort, ergonomics, value, and safety. In addition, editors also tested the user-friendliness of each vehicle’s technology systems.

Editors seemed to thoroughly enjoy the Camaro’s heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel, and the ambient lighting system so much they referred to the new Camaro’s cabin as “a classic in the making.”

The 2016 Camaro SS also comes with Chevrolet’s next-generation MyLink infotainment system, which is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Camaro’s infotainment system can also be configured to supply performance information, navigation, and other infotainment features.

As for comfort, the Chevy Camaro SS features a new flat-bottom steering wheel and an electronic parking brake has replaced the 2015 version’s mechanical parking brake handle. This change in braking technology has allowed the cupholders to be repositioned, which has provided more room to manipulate the available manual transmission.

“General Motors absolutely succeeds on all fronts with the new Chevrolet Camaro, which comes with enough significantly upgraded materials and flare to set a new standard for an interior in this segment,” wrote Tom Murphy, WardsAuto senior editor. “Who knew the cabin of a muscle car could incorporate so many soft surfaces and still feel like a sporty coupe intended to be driven hard?”
