2016 Chevrolet Colorado Duramax Shortlisted for Green Truck of the Year
Earlier this year, it was announced that the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado would be available with a diesel engine, something that fans of the small truck had long been asking for. While diesel fuel is considerably more expensive than unleaded gasoline, the diesel engines are more fuel efficient and offer more power than an unleaded gasoline engine of similar size.

The Chevy Colorado and its 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine option are getting close to hitting dealership lots, and members of the press are awed with their test drives. The Green Car Journal is so impressed that it has added the Colorado to the shortlist for its 2016 Green Truck of the Year distinction.
The Chevy Colorado will be up against last year’s Green Truck of the Year winner, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, as well as the Ford F-150 equipped with EcoBoost. The bigger trucks have a lot to lose, though, considering that controlled EPA testing has given the Chevy Colorado Duramax an amazing 31.4 mpg highway rating. We should have a final EPA mpg rating as soon as the truck completes the EPA’s more rigorous testing for diesel engines.
