Today General Motors announced that the 2016 Chevy Malibu Hyubrid LT will go on sale this spring with a starting price of $28,645 (not including the $875 destination fee or tax, title, and license).

Using an all-new technologies borrowed from the 2016 Volt, the new Malibu Hybrid yields a GM-estimated 48 mpg in city driving, 45 mpg on the highway, and 47 mpg combined. Official EPA fuel economy ratings are still pending, but if GM’s estimates are correct, the Malibu Hybrid will be a leader in the mid-size car segment, and even more efficient than the Volt.
