2016 Chevy Volt Efficiency Announced, Sort Of
Over the last several months, Chevy has been giving us little pieces to the larger puzzle that is the 2016 Volt. We’ve gotten teaser photos (number one and number two), stories about investments and camouflage, and even a promise that the next-gen Volt will be more efficient. The one thing we haven’t gotten? Actual numbers.
Until now.
We now have at least some sense of the 2016 Chevy Volt efficiency figures.

Yes, we now have some insight into the 2016 Chevy Volt efficiency figures, though the puzzle is still incomplete. According to Hybrid Cars, the 2016 Volt will see a 12% increase in overall range. This will take the Volt’s range from 380 miles (electric and gas power combined) to 425 miles.
What this doesn’t tell us, however, is how much the electric range has improved and how much the gas range has improved. We do know, however, that greater range in EV mode was a top concern for drivers of models from 2011 – 2013, so it’s likely we’ll see an improvement there.
So how much of an improvement is estimated? Your guess is as good as ours, though experts weighing in have guessed from the low 40s all the way up to the 60s.
We should get our answer next month, when the 2016 Chevy Volt debuts at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
