What’s New for the 2016 Dodge Journey

The 2016 Dodge Journey has streamlined its previous seven models to five. Replacing the AVP as the base level is the SE, which offers consumers a variety of top-notch standard features like 17-inch wheels and keyless Enter ‘n Go with push-button start. The SXT price has also been reduced by $800 and every trim level has the option of two new paint colors—Jazz Blue Pearl and Olive Green.

The 2016 Dodge Journey comes in five trim levels: SE, SXT, Crossroad, Crossroad Plus, and R/T.

There are two different engine options available for the 2016 Dodge Journey. The first is a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which puts out 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. Dodge’s award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine is also available with a healthy 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes optional on all but the base SE trim level, and is standard on the R/T trim.

Every trim comes standard with a four-speed automatic transmission, except the R/T trim level, which comes with a six-speed automatic. Each trim with the exception of the base SE is also available with either a front- or all-wheel-drive system. The SE trim comes exclusively with front-wheel drive.

Fuel efficiency for the 2016 Journey depends on the engine you choose. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. For the 3.6-liter V6, the fuel rating hits around 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

Despite its intimidating exterior styling, the 2016 Dodge Journey’s interior is anything but. Sweeping lines, top-notch materials, and abundant technology make the Journey’s interior warm and inviting. This crossover has an upscale feel even on the base SE trim level. With the optional five- or seven-passenger seating, the cargo space available varies, but regardless it’s pretty good. Legroom can be a bit tight in the seven-passenger model, but the Journey more than makes up with if with features like SiriusXM radio, and in-seat cushion storage.
