2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid, Energi Receive $900 Price Cut
2015 Ford Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid
With the price of gasoline down around the country, it’s only reasonable to expect that automakers would cut down prices of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in order to make them more appealing to customers. Ford is following suit and reportedly cutting about $900 from the price of the 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid.
According to Cars Direct, the 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid S will start at an MSRP of $25,675, which reflects a 3.39% price cut from the 2015 Fusion Hybrid S’s $26,575 price tag. The 2016 Fusion Energi SE Luxury will start around $33,900, down 2.59% from the $34,800 asking price for the 2015 Fusion Energi.

It’s noted that the price cuts do not accompany any detractions from standard equipment, but the Fusion Hyrbid and Fusion Energi will add a new EcoSelect driving mode for improved acceleration and a more even distribution of battery power. The price cuts also do not apply to the gasoline-powered Fusion models. Both 2016 models are expected to arrive later in the year.
The foremost competitors for both the 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid—the 2016 Chevy Volt and 2016 Toyota Prius, respectively—will be even more formidable in the year ahead. Chevrolet already revealed the next-gen Volt at last month’s North American International Auto Show, and many predict that Toyota will unveil a next-gen Prius in the form of a 2016 model sometime later this year.
The Fusion is likely not due for a complete overhaul for some time, but it’s expected that it will receive a mid-cycle refresh sometime in 2016.
