2016 GMC Canyon Diesel Tops Segment for Fuel Economy
The 2016 GMC Canyon is undoubtedly going to be one of the most popular trucks of the year, thanks in large part to the introduction of a new diesel-powered model. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, the 2016 Canyon Duramax diesel will be the most fuel efficient truck of its kind, returning 22 mpg city/31 mpg highway/25 mpg combined in 2×4 and 20 mpg city/29 mpg highway/23 mpg combined in 4×4.
“GMC Canyon is designed for those who want a smart-sized premium pickup that is quiet, capable and efficient and the new Duramax diesel engine gives customers another choice for handling heavier work and recreational needs – while doing it efficiently,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “It’s the very definition of GMC’s professional grade ethos.”
To alleviate potential consumer concerns in the wake of Volkswagen’s Dieselgate, the EPA issued a “Certificate of Conformity” for the Canyon diesel to ensure that it has undergone the most extensive testing and evaluation possible.
The 2016 GMC Canyon diesel will be available this fall for SLE and SLT Crew Cab models.
