The acclaimed 2016 Honda Civic Coupe recently earned another feather in its cap: the highest-available rating of Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for models equipped with Honda Sensing.

The 2016 Civic Coupe is the latest member of the Honda lineup to earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating when equipped with Honda Sensing technology. Other vehicles to earn the distinction include the 2016 Honda Civic Sedan, Accord Sedan and Coupe, CR-V, and Pilot.

The Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technology includes features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM). In IIHS tests conducted at 12 and 25 mph, the Civic Coupe used Honda Sensing tech to successfully avoid collisions, earning it a “Superior” rating for front crash protection.

“We’re proud to add the 2016 Civic Coupe to a growing family of Honda vehicles that employ our Honda Sensing technology and earn top crash safety ratings,” said Honda executive Jeff Conrad. “Honda Sensing and systems like it are changing the conversation around vehicle safety performance from crash protection to crash avoidance, and we will continue to expand Honda Sensing to additional models as we work toward our vision for a collision-free society.”
