2016 Honda Civic Coupe Debuts at LA Auto Show
Exactly one month ago, the 2016 Honda Civic Sedan debuted in Los Angeles, giving the world its first official look at the redesigned 10th-generation Civic. Today, the coupe version of the new Civic model followed suit, by making its first public appearance at the 2015 LA Auto Show.
Set to hit dealerships in March of 2016, the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe will, like its sedan counterpart, feature two new motors: a base 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine yielding 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque and 31/41/35 mpg in city/highway/combined traffic for models equipped with a CVT, and a turbocharged 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected engine offering 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque with anticipated EPA ratings of 31/42/35 mpg.

The all-new coupe differentiates itself in its sportier design, which features a lower roofline, a more compact form, and signature taillights.

Inside, Honda is also promising an upgraded interior style with soft-touch materials and high-grade finishes. Additionally, the coupe’s interior space is 8.4 cubic feet more than the outgoing 2015 model, with a full 5 inches in added legroom. In terms of tech offerings, the new Civic also boasts Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a new Honda embedded navigation system by Garmin.
“We continue on our epic tenth-generation Civic journey with the sportiest, most sophisticated and tech-savvy Civic Coupe yet,” said Honda executive Jeff Conrad. “I think our customers are going to be utterly surprised by what this new Coupe delivers in terms of refinement, safety, efficiency and fun-to-drive performance.”
Though both the sedan and coupe variants of the 10th-generation Honda Civic have now been revealed, the fun is far from finished. Over the next 17 months, Honda will also be debuting the first-ever Civic 5-door hatchback for the US market, Civic Si performance variants, and an all-new Civic Type R for the American market.
