The new Honda Civic has already made quite an impression across the globe and the impending launch of the Civic Sport in the United Kingdom just might be what it takes to put this small car over the top.

While the entry-level Civic S Limited Edition comes with a price tag of approximately $16,400 and makes use of an automatic transmission, the 2016 Honda Civic Sport is equipped with a six-speed manual and is available with a distinctive 1.4-liter i-VTEC engine. The unique characteristics of the Civic Sport raise its price tag substantially to roughly $21,000.

The Civic Sport has a similar outward appearance as the Civic Type R model, which American consumers are anxiously awaiting the release of. The exterior of the new Civic Sport features a low mesh grille, color-coded rear spoiler, and 17-inch alloy wheels. In addition, the interior cabin includes black roof lining that provides this model with its own signature look.

When equipped with the 1.4-liter i-VTEC engine, the new Civic Sport will produce 98 horsepower and 93 lb-ft or torque. Additionally, the ‘17 Civic Sport is scheduled to hit dealerships in the United Kingdom at some point in May. Philip Crossman, who is the managing director of Honda UK, is reportedly quite pumped up about the impending introduction of the new Civic Sport, especially its small engine.

“The addition of the 1.4-liter petrol engine version of the Sport strengthens our Civic family line up and makes the more aggressively styled version of our popular family hatchback more accessible,” Crossman has been quoted as saying.

In the first quarter of 2016, the Honda brand sold a total of 19,742 vehicles in the UK.
