2016 Honda CR-V Earns 5-Star NHTSA Safety Rating
America’s bestselling SUV has just reaffirmed its status as one of the nation’s safest crossovers. Today Honda announced that the new 2016 CR-V has been awarded a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the highest possible score available in the agency’s New Car Assessment Program.
Earlier this year, the CR-V received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

“Consumers have made the CR-V America’s best-selling SUV for good reason, and this top government safety rating just adds one more appealing and class-leading attribute,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda senior vice president and general manager. “Honda is committed to offering vehicles that deliver advanced safety, fun-to-drive performance and connectivity, with top fuel economy ratings. CR-V is that kind of vehicle.”
The new CR-V is highly effective at absorbing and dispersing energy in the event of a forward collision, thanks to the use of the latest generation of Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure.
The 2016 Honda CR-V earned its 5-Star safety ratings not just by virtue of its crash test performance, but by meeting the requirements of the NHTSA’s three recommended technologies: a rearview camera, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning.

Late last month, the CR-V’s stable mate—the 2016 Honda Pilot—earned a 5-Star NHTSA safety rating of its own.
