Redesigned Ridgeline Release to Follow

2016 Honda Pilot debuting later this year

The 2015 Honda Pilot SUV

At last week’s North American International Auto Show, Honda declared 2015 to be “The Year of Honda.” It seems the festivities will truly begin in earnest this spring when the all-new HR-V crossover launches, with the redesigned 2016 Honda Pilot debuting shortly after that, and then the new, butt-less Honda Ridgeline pickup arriving before year’s end.

When it goes on sale this spring, the 2016 Honda HR-V will be the most fuel-efficient conventionally powered SUV on the market.

“Shortly after, we’ll introduce an all-new Pilot SUV that will redefine what is possible with an eight-passenger midsize SUV,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of Honda’s US automobiles division. “And further ahead, a completely reengineered Ridgeline pickup. And we have some more excitement on the passenger car side of our lineup this year as well.”

According to Edmunds.com, Mendel said that this year, Honda will have “a strong cadence of innovative products heading your way in the coming months.”

In Detroit, Honda also announced plans to begin manufacturing new, small turbocharged four-cylinder engines in Ohio, though Mendel would not reveal which models will be the first to be equipped with the new motors. Still, it is expected that at least one turbocharged Honda vehicle will launch before the end of 2015.
