Do you guys remember the 2016 Lincoln MKS? You know, it’s the full-size sedan that practically nobody is talking about because they are all too busy checking out its replacement, the 2017 Lincoln Continental? Well, if you are on the market for a luxury sedan and just cannot wait another minute longer, then you will be pleased to know that the 2016 MKS has earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 5-Star Overall Safety rating.

The MKS, both in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, earned a five-star overall score by managing five-star scores in both the front crash and side crash components of testing, as well as a four-star rating in the rollover test. The MKS scores bonus points for coming standard with a rearview camera and rear parking sensors, and it is recommended with the optional blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning systems and lane-keeping assist.

The 2016 Lincoln MKS also comes standard with MyKey, which allows drivers to place certain restrictions on teen drivers, as well as SYNC, which features 911 Assist.

The 2016 Lincoln MKS was also tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and it scored ratings of “good” in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats tests. It did not obtain the status of a TOP SAFETY PICK, however, due to a “poor” score in the small front overlap test.

Other 5-Star Safety Rated vehicles in Lincoln’s lineup include the 2016 MKX, MKZ, and Navigator.

The 2017 Lincoln Continental is set to replace the MKS when it arrives later this year.
