The 2016 MINI Clubman

If you love the look and feel of the MINI Cooper Hardtop but need more space for your family and friends, the 2016 MINI Clubman could be your solution. Featuring the classic styling of the Cooper, but with room for five adults to sit comfortably, the Clubman is easily one of the most distinguishable wagons on the road.

You have two choices of models when it comes to the 2016 Clubman: Cooper and Cooper S.

What’s New for the 2016 MINI Clubman?

The MINI Clubman has been completely redesigned for 2016. This new model marks the first year of the car’s foray into its second generation, so its design has been completely overhauled from the inside out.

With six total doors, the 2016 MINI Clubman is nothing if not accessible. The sixth door comes from a split rear door rather than the usual liftgate that features on other MINI models. If you have your keys in your pocket, you can actually open the rear doors using your feet.

The Clubman is easily the longest offering from MINI, taking the brand deep into family wagon territory. The recognizable taillights are mounted to the split-barn rear doors, and while the design is arguably MINI, they differentiate quite a lot from the automaker’s other models.

2016 MINI Clubman Performance

The MINI Cooper Clubman is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine which is good for 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Stepping up to the Cooper S gets you a slightly larger 2.0-liter turbo engine, which is capable of pumping out 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to either a six-speed Getrag manual transmission, or a six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

2016 MINI Clubman Interior

There’s one word that describes the 2016 MINI Clubman’s interior to a T: spacious. When compared to the MINI Hardtop, the Clubman is 3.54 inches wider and a whopping 10.62 inches longer, making it comfortable for taller adults both in the front and rear seats. While the interior is practical, it’s also fun, with multicolored ambient lighting, a large 6.5-inch touchscreen, and leatherette seats (with optional leather).
