2016 MINI Paceman Overview
If you like the style of the MINI Cooper but need something a tad bigger, check out the 2016 MINI Paceman. This three-door crossover combines the retro look of the Cooper, but provides ample space for passengers in the front and back, plus plenty of cargo room and extra ground clearance.
2016 MINI Paceman Exterior
From the outside, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the 2016 Paceman as an oversized MINI Cooper. The styling is almost identical, and the opportunities for customization are practically endless. You’ll notice the same bug-eye headlights seen on the Cooper, and the same vintage shape. To make it your own, you can choose from sporty hood stripes, a chrome line or piano black exterior, roof rails, bike rack prep, and even Stealth Mode (which removes the badges from the body of the car for a cleaner look—after all, MINI vehicles don’t need badges to be recognized).

2016 MINI Paceman Performance
Each 2016 Paceman model is powered by a 16-valve aluminum-alloy engine. It is fitted with Valvetronic technology, which helps to reduce fuel consumption without sacrificing power. In the Cooper, the engine is good for 121 horsepower; that increases to 181 hp in the Cooper S and Cooper S All4. The exception is the tricked-out John Cooper Works, which houses a 208-hp turbocharged engine under the hood. This engine makes 192 lb-ft of torque, and is equipped with an Overboost function, allowing that number to increase to an impressive 207 lb-ft.
2016 MINI Paceman Efficiency
EPA-estimated fuel efficiency has not yet been released for the 2016 Paceman, but given that the model is pretty much unchanged from 2015, we expect this model to perform similarly. For 2015, the Paceman S Cooper with manual transmission gets 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway for a combined rating of 29 mpg (25/32/28 with automatic transmission). Those numbers change to 25/31/27 mpg city/highway/combined for the All4 with manual transmission, and 23/30/26 with automatic transmission. Finally, the John Cooper Works gets 25/31/27 mpg city/highway/combined with manual transmission, and 23/30/26 with automatic transmission.
2016 MINI Paceman Interior
Inside, the 2016 MINI Paceman is as spacious and comfortable as you would imagine. Both driver and front passenger have ample room to stretch out, while two rear bucket seats offer additional seating with plenty of legroom. With the back seats up, the Paceman offers 11.7 cubic feet of cargo space; that increases to 38.1 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Upholstery choices include leatherette, leather/cloth, or all-out leather. You can choose a chrome line interior, black checkered dash surface, red copper color inlay, and much more. Automatic climate control comes standard, offering personalized comfort to each occupant.
