2016 Mitsubishi Outlander will Debut at New York International Auto Show
Late last week at the Chicago Auto Show, Mitsubishi revealed the GC-PHEV Concept SUV and made some important announcements about the future of Mitsubishi in the United States. Don Swearingen, Executive VP of Mitsubishi Motors North America, confirmed that every 2016 Mitsubishi model will be refreshed starting with the Outlander. This new SUV will debut at the New York International Auto Show in April.
Mitsubishi also suggested that the GC-PHEV Concept is a preview of the brand’s future design language, and we’ve already speculated that it could be the return of the Montero in concept form due to its apparent off-road capability.
Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology seems to be a theme with Mitsubishi concept cars lately, as the GC-PHEV is powered by a supercharged V6 engine and electric motor that work together to provide up to 335 horsepower to all four wheels.
Mitsubishi is also packing its latest concepts with new technology, like the so-called “Tactical Table” in the GC-PHEV that links to smartphones and allows passengers to coordinate road trips and whatever else they can think of while bored out of their minds on a long journey.
