The 2016 Subaru Outback was named to KBB’s list of the 16 Best Family Cars of 2016

Last week, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) announced its list of the 16 Best Family Cars of 2016. Perhaps to no one’s surprise, the beloved 2016 Subaru Outback made the cut. The top 16 were chosen from only a selection of 24 models that were considered for the honor.

KBB subjected each of those 24 vehicles to rigorous testing over two long weeks. Models were examined for their comfort, convenience, fit of child safety seats, safety, and spaciousness for passengers and cargo. Given that those were the criteria, there was no doubt that the Outback would score a spot.

In fact, the Outback offers 104 cubic feet of cabin space and 35.5 cubic feet of storage space. That number can increase to 73.3 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks folded. Safety is made a top priority with features like Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and EyeSight.

“For two weeks we drove, lived-with, folded down-seats-of, paired phones-to and installed-baby-seats-in each and every one of the contenders,” explained Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst of KBB.com.  “We loaded cargo, contorted ourselves into third rows, watched movies on rear-seat screens, toted rowing teams to marinas – in short, we did everything that you and your family might do with a vehicle day-to-day.”
