2017 Acura RDX Overview

The 2017 Acura RDX is a compact luxury crossover that carries a starting MSRP of $35,370. Besides offering an abundance of advanced safety and entertainment technology, the 2017 RDX also offers potential buyers the choice between front-wheel and all-wheel driving systems. Competition for the new RDX includes the Audi Q5, Cadillac XT5, and BMW X3.

What’s New for the 2017 Acura RDX?

The 2017 Acura RDX is largely a carryover model, but it does offer two new exterior color options in Modern Steel Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic. The 2017 Acura RDX is available in five unique models: RDX, RDX with AcuraWatch Plus, RDX with Technology Package, RDX with Technology and AcuraWatch Plus Packages, and RDX with Advance Package.

2017 Acura RDX Exterior

Last year, the Acura RDX received a huge face lift that included LED headlights and taillights, as well as a new front grille. That bold and daring exterior design remains intact for the 2017 model year. The ‘17 RDX comes standard with a power moonroof, Jewel Eye headlights, daytime running lamps, and rear privacy glass. Those consumers who opt for the Advanced Package will also see 18-inch gray alloy wheels and rain-sensing wipers added to the crossover. Exterior color options include Basque Red Pearl II, Crystal Black Pearl, and White Diamond Pearl.

2017 Acura RDX Performance

The only engine available for the 2017 Acura RDX is a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 279 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. That engine is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission and consumers can either opt for the less expensive front-wheel drive system or available all-wheel drive. The V6 engine in the 2017 RDX also features variable displacement technology, which can deactivate three of the six-cylinders during less stressful driving conditions in order to improve fuel economy.

2017 Acura RDX Efficiency

EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2017 Acura RDX is slightly different depending on the buyer’s selection of either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The FWD Acura RDX is good for 20 mph in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the AWD Acura RDX yields 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The new Acura RDX comes standard with a 16 gallon fuel tank.

2017 Acura RDX Interior

The 2017 Acura RDX offers a comfortable and stylish interior that provides seating for up to five passengers. Drivers of the new RDX should enjoy the standard heated front seats during the winter months, while the second-row air conditioning vents will help cool passengers during the heat of the summer. This vehicle also comes standard with a multi-view rear camera and music lovers will be able to play their favorite tunes on the 7-speaker Acura premium sound system. In addition, the new RDX crossover features 26.1 cubic feet of available cargo space behind the rear seats.

2017 Acura RDX Safety

The 2017 Acura RDX features the same design as the 2016 model, which earned the best possible safety rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 2016 RDX was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Besides coming standard with multiple airbags, antilock brakes, and a multi-view rear camera, the 2017 Acura RDX is also available with the AcuraWatch Plus package. This package includes advanced safety technologies such as lane keep assist, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and a collision mitigation braking system.
