2017 Acura RLX Priced at $54,450 and Goes on Sale Tomorrow, September 22
The new Acura RLX uses some of the same hybrid and SH-AWD tech as the Acura NSX supercar
Acura loyalists who have been anxiously awaiting the release of the 2017 RLX luxury sedan only have a few hours left to go, as the Japanese automaker has announced this car will officially go on sale tomorrow in the United States with a starting MSRP of $54,450.
The cabin of the new RLX sounds like a safe place to be
Just like last year’s model, the 2017 Acura RLX will be motivated by a 3.5-liter V6 engine rated at 310 horsepower. That motor works with a six-speed automatic gearbox in order to send power to the front wheels. In addition, fuel economy for the RLX comes in at 23 mpg combined for the FWD model.
That powertrain is certainly capable, but the real standout features for the RLX are its safety systems. Collectively known as AcuraWatch, this suite of safety equipment comes standard on the RLX and includes lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot information, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, cross traffic monitor, and a lane keeping assist system.
Besides those safety features, the entry-level Acura RLX also comes equipped with the AcuraLink connected car system, 19-inch bright-finished wheels, and Jewel Eye LED headlights. For even more luxury, shoppers can dish out approximately $6,000 more to step up to the RLX with the Advance package. According to Car and Driver, this model contains the same items found on the base trim, but also adds heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system, just to name of few of its additional features.
For those people wondering about the RLX Sport Hybrid–which is the model that shares some of its hybrid and AWD technology with the NSX supercar–Acura didn’t release too much info about this trim in its latest press release, besides mentioning that the RLX Sport Hybrid will be released later this fall.
Those consumers who are completely fine with the gasoline-powered version can visit Acura dealerships across the country tomorrow when the 2017 RLX sedan officially goes on sale.
