Chevrolet last month launched the all-new 2017 Sail in Colombia, updating the popular model with double front airbags and anti-lock braking for all models. Since originally being released in Colombia in 2012, sales of the Sail (otherwise known as Sail sales) have totaled 77,000 units.

The decision to bring more safety features to the base model is a move to help the Sail conform to more stringent vehicle standards. Chevrolet collaborated with Colombia’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism to ensure that the new Sail is up to both national and international standards for safety even at the base level.

“The safety of our customers is the most important, and for this reason we invest all our knowledge and make important investments to guarantee the quality of our vehicles and the full tranquility of our customers,” said Camilo Ruiz, Marketing Manager, Chevrolet. “The products manufactured and assembled at the General Motors plant in Colombia meet all international quality standards, and the fact that we are the brand preferred by Colombians for 31 consecutive years proves it. ”

“The country needs greater safety, and the Sail is an entry-market model with higher safety and equipment standards,” Ruiz added.

The Chevrolet Sail is also offered with driver and passenger airbag systems, adjustable front headrests, three-point front and rear outboard safety belts, electronic brake distribution, and Body Frame Integrated body structure. The new Sail also comes standard with a 1.4-liter, 16-valve engine, power windows, and power mirrors.

“One of the highlights of the Chevrolet Sail is its 1.4-liter 16-valve engine that delivers excellent performance with efficient fuel consumption, but Sail’s differentiating attribute is that it is the only one in its segment that offers next-generation Chevystar services,” added Camilo Parra, Chevrolet Product People. “Additionally, the Sail comes equipped with … a touch-screen entertainment center with 6.4-inch HD display and navigation via Chevystar,” added Camilo Parra, Chevrolet Product People.
