Ford is hoping that the new 2017 Escape is a hit with customers looking for forward-thinking, tech-savvy crossovers. If early feedback is any indication, it will not only be that, but a major award winner.

The new Escape was named the winner of Cars.com’s compact SUV challenge, ranking at the top of its segment and beating out competitors including the 2016 Kia Sportage, 2016 Honda CR-V, 2017 Toyota RAV4, and 2016 Hyundai Tucson.

“The significantly refreshed Ford Escape is a great-driving small SUV, now with even more features for the money,” said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor in chief. “Between its huge driver-connectivity system, comfortable and quiet ride, and impressive built-in storage, the Escape is a real winner.”

The Escape hit dealerships nationwide in May after making its world premiere at the 2015 LA Auto Show last November. Among the 2017 Escape’s new and improved features is available SYNC Connect technology, which allows owners to remotely lock, unlock, start, and locate their vehicle through the FordPass app.

Other new features for the 2017 Escape include an available Sports Appearance Package, windshield wiper de-icer, and a reconfigured center console that allows for more storage of personal items.

The Escape is offered with two EcoBoost engines—the 1.5-liter EcoBoost and 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged EcoBoost—that both feature standard Auto Start-Stop Technology.

The new Escape made for a 20.2% year-over-year sales increase for the namebadge in June, helping Ford SUVs to their highest sales total for the month in 15 years.

The 2017 Ford Escape is available starting at $23,600, plus taxes, title, delivery, and license fees.
