2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor race truck has completed the Best in the Desert Mint 400 off-road race, making the only stock truck in the race one of only 19 teams from a field of 68 to finish the grueling run through the sands.

“We’re really pleased with the F-150 Raptor’s performance,” said Greg Foutz, primary driver of the truck and owner of Foutz Motorsports. “The all-new F-150 Raptor race truck was strong throughout, and its new high-output EcoBoost engine and transmission are seriously impressive.”

The No. 1201 F-150 Raptor driven by the team of Foutz, Tim Casey, Bill Rante, and Travis Leach, completed both laps with a total course time of 9:09:58.104. The Raptor finished 23rd overall and first in Class 1200—a class in which it was the sole entrant.

The F-150 Raptor race truck features factory stock equipment including 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, 10-speed transmission with torque-on-demand transfer case, 17-inch Ford Performance wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, windshield, air conditioning, and LED headlamps and taillamps.

Modifications include front and rear FOX Racing Shox, front and rear springs, custom roll cage, MasterCraft seats with five-point harness safety belts and window nets, a racing fuel cell, Lowrance GPS, Racepak digital dash and data logger, and LED light bars.

“The all-new Raptor has the DNA of a Baja race truck, with a purpose-built engine, chassis and suspension that enables it to travel fast over challenging desert landscapes or crawl over rocky terrain,” said Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer, Ford Performance.

The F-150 Raptor race truck will next compete in the Laughlin Desert Classic, Vegas to Reno, Bluewater Challenge, and Pahrump Nugget 250.
