The 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup can now use adaptive cruise control while towing

When it comes to pickup trucks, Ford knows what it’s doing. The American carmaker is no doubt the leader in the pickup truck segment, and this has never been more obvious than now.

Ford recently announced that the 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup will have a long list of driver-assist technologies that other pickup trucks in its class do not—and the biggest one is adaptive cruise control.

This feature, which allows drivers to set cruise control and allow the truck to determine what a comfortable following distance, is typically found on sedans and SUVs. Now, it will be on a truck.

And, while this feature is awesome in the sense that the pickup truck can follow other cars at a comfortable distance, it gets even better. It works even when the pickup truck is towing.

How cool is that?

“The all-new Super Duty is the toughest, most capable Super Duty ever,” said Brian Rathsburg, Ford Super Duty marketing manager. “With a host of driver-assist technologies, it is also the smartest Super Duty ever.”

And he’s not exaggerating. The all-new Super Duty pickup truck has 17 new class-exclusive features that will impress even the stingiest of truck lovers. Along with the aforementioned adaptive cruise control, these features include:

  • Adaptive steering
  • Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage
  • BoxLink with premium locking cleats
  • Factory-installed customer-placed trailer camera
  • Inflatable rear outboard safety belts
  • Multi-contour front seats with Active Motionâ
  • Power-deployable running boards
  • PowerScope power-telescoping and power-folding trailer tow mirrors
  • Remote tailgate release with power lock
  • Standard flat floor on SuperCab and crew Cab
  • Stowable loading ramps
  • SYNC 3
  • Tailgate step
  • Trailer Reverse Guidance
  • Trailer tire pressure monitoring system
  • Utility lighting system

Because, you know, having a huge pickup truck that can tow while using adaptive cruise control just isn’t enough for Ford.
