2017 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang

Here is a concept that may come somewhat out of left field: high-performance sports cars that are likely to become collectible somewhere down the line are pretty good in terms of retaining value. Weird, we know. Ford has quite a few vehicles that might fit this bill—up to and including the 2017 Ford GT supercar and F-150 Raptor performance truck—but Kelley Blue Book determined that it is the 2017 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang that has the best resale value for high-performance cars.

The KBB.com Best Resale Value Award for a High-Performance Car was bestowed upon the Shelby GT350 and, by extension, Shelby GT350R as it is expected to maintain 53% of its original resale value after three years and 39% of its resale value after five years. The Shelby GT350 Mustang starts at $57,045 MSRP, and the Shelby GT350R Mustang starts at $64,545 MSRP (including $900 destination fee).

Says KBB.com in its write-up of the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby:

Race-ready, road-legal. Sounds like a giddy performance prescription from another era when automotive buff books ruled, no? Nope. Hardcore performance never gets old, and the 2017 Shelby GT350 version of the Ford Mustang runs about as hardcore as a muscle car gets. It also brags wicked-strong resale value that sticks to the car like the car’s standard 19-inch Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires stick to asphalt.

Coupe: only. 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine (526 horsepower and a delicious 8,200-rpm redline): only. Six-speed manual transmission: only. Rear-wheel drive: always. Massive Brembo brakes: standard. Torsen limited-slip differential: standard. But even with all this and a track-qualified suspension, the Shelby GT350 need not be at a loss when it comes to everyday driving. Option packages are available that include manual Recaro bucket seats with power-adjustable, leather-trimmed sport seats, audio upgrades, navigation, and more.

Fair to say they liked it, no?

The 2017 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang beat out the 2017 Porsche 911 and 2017 Chevrolet Corvette, retaining more than 2% more value after 36 months and more than 1% more value after 60 months.
