2017 Honda Accord EPA-Rated as Market’s Most Fuel-Efficient Midsize Hybrid Sedan

Today Honda revealed EPA-estimated fuel economy figures for the upcoming 2017 Accord Hybrid, which yields best-in-class ratings of 49/47/48 mpg (city/highway/combined). That makes the redesigned and restyled model the industry’s most fuel-efficient midsize hybrid sedan.

The vehicle’s second-generation, two-motor hybrid powertrain yields 212 total horsepower, which also stands as the best in its class, and improves on the 2015 model by 16 hp. The upgraded fuel economy figures represent a +1 mpg city/+2 mpg highway/+1 mpg combined increase over the old Accord Hybrid.

When it goes on sale in the United States and Japan later this spring, the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid will carry a starting MSRP of $29,605. The car will be available win three separate trims—Hybrid, Hybrid EX-L, and Hybrid Touring, all of which come standard with Honda Sensing safety features. Honda’s newest Display Audio touchscreen, which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, will also be featured on EX-L and Touring models.

“The Accord Hybrid is the ultimate Accord, offering exceptional dynamic qualities with the greatest technological sophistication and fuel efficiency in the Accord family,” said Honda executive Jeff Conrad. “Consumers have made Accord America’s top selling midsize sedan, recognizing its unique combination of performance, value, efficiency and refinement, and the 2017 Accord Hybrid ups the game in each of these traits.”

Remote engine start, front and rear parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, heated rear seats, and auto high-beam headlights are among the 2017 Accord’s other newly available features. Unique to the Hybrid model is a special aluminum hood and unique alloy wheel design, along with exclusive blue highlighted LED headlights and taillights and “Hybrid” exterior badging. Trunk capacity has also been increased to 13.5 cubic feet, which Honda claims is the most in the midsize hybrid sedan segment.
