The Honda Civic Hatchback will be offered in five distinct trim levels for the 2017 model year

The 2017 AUTOMOBILE All-Star winners have been revealed, and both Honda and the automaker’s luxury brand Acura picked up an award this year.

Honda won big with the all-new 2017 Civic Hatchback Sport, a European-inspired, five-door hot hatch equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine that yields 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. In addition to its performance, the Civic Hatchback Sport earned recognition for its styling, versatility, and value.

“The Honda Civic Hatchback Sport is a versatile, efficient car that’s a blast to drive hard,” said AUTOMOBILE Editor-in-Chief Mike Floyd. “Our editors praised its handling, steering feel, and smooth manual gearbox. And it’s a smoking deal at just over 22 grand. All of that makes it a runaway All-Star in our book.”

“We are honored to make AUTOMOBILE’s All-Star list,” said Honda Division Senior VP Jeff Conrad. “Since the 2017 Civic Hatchback arrived in the US last fall, it has been winning the hearts and minds of not only enthusiasts but everyday drivers who appreciate its driving dynamics and utility.”

Representing the other end of the performance (and price) spectrum, Acura picked up the prestigious award thanks to its 2017 NSX. At $160,000, the hybrid supercar didn’t earn points for its cost of ownership, but still scored big where it counts: “by consistently putting a grin on drivers’ faces.”

“Yes, the Acura NSX is a tour de force of advanced engineering, but it’s far from cold and impersonal,” Floyd said of the 537-horsepower beast, which also holds the distinction of being the only American-built supercar. “Instead, the NSX is a supercar that makes you feel like a hero regardless of skill level at the track, and it’s eminently accessible and easy to drive off of it. A true All-Star.”

“We’re extremely proud to have the pinnacle Acura vehicle, the NSX, recognized with one of the industry’s pinnacle honors, the Automobile All-Star award,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president & general manager of Acura. “With NSX, we set out to deliver a unique expression of Acura performance, and this honor further validates that Acura is a performance brand.”
