Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

In the past, Lexus vehicles were known for their modest exterior designs, which some people described as bland or unexciting, but Lexus has a come a long way since then and now offers some of the most distinctive vehicles you’ll see on the road today. Take for instance the 2017 Lexus NX; while this model is based on the Toyota RAV4’s platform, it looks nothing like Toyota’s compact crossover. The Lexus NX sets itself apart thanks to a massive front grille, bold bodylines, and eye-catching headlights. When you combine those features with an equally provocative interior and multiple engine options, then it’s easy to see why the NX has quickly become one of Lexus’ most talked about crossovers.

2017 Lexus NX Performance

The 2017 Lexus NX comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, which is notable as this is the first turbo-four produced by Toyota’s luxury brand. Rated at 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, this engine allows the NX crossover to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, according to Lexus’ official web site. That motor is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox which directs power to the vehicle’s front wheels, unless you upgrade to the company’s all-wheel drive system. What’s more, the NX hybrid makes use of 2.5-liter four-banger that works with an additional electric motor to produce a total of 194 horsepower.

The 2017 Lexus NX provides seating for up to five passengers and comes generously equipped with standard features like an eight-speaker audio system, tinted glass, and a rearview camera. What’s more, while the cabin isn’t as striking as the vehicle’s exterior, the inside still features plenty of excitement thanks to a tilt-and-slide moonroof and deeply bolstered sports seats. In addition, Lexus offers a Leather package with the NX, which not so coincidentally adds heated and ventilated seats covered in leather upholstery. On top of these extravagant features, the new Lexus also provides 17.7 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seats, but the second row can fold down, exposing more than 56 cubes to store larger items.

2017 Lexus NX Safety

Not only did the 2017 Lexus NX earn the best possible safety rating of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but it also picked up prestigious Top Safety Pick+ honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The latter honor is even more notable given the fact that, besides acing all five crashworthiness tests and earning an “Exceptional” score for its front crash prevention system, this year vehicles had to pass the IIHS’s new evaluation that measures the effectiveness of each vehicle’s headlights. The Lexus NX passed thanks to its LED projector low beams and halogen reflector high beams.
