Deemed the “SUV of the Year” by Popular Mechanics magazine in its Automotive Excellence issue, the 2017 Nissan Armada full-size SUV won over the magazine’s editorial staff for its spacious three-row seating and “luxury-SUV experience at a Nissan price.”

According to the magazine editors, “For those who need three rows of seats and low-range four-wheel drive, the new Armada does it best.”

According to Nissan, the 2017 Armada, which is built on the legacy of the Nissan Patrol, is a durable and genuine full-size eight-passenger SUV, has a capacity to tow up to 8,500 pounds for both four-wheel and two-wheel drive models (when adequately furnished), and features a 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 engine that generates 390 horsepower—a best-in class ranking–when paired with the seven-speed automatic transmission.

“As our flagship model in the expanding Nissan SUV and crossover portfolio, Armada offers best-in-class maximum horsepower, a range of class-exclusive available safety and security features, and an interior that you’d expect to find in a much more expensive vehicle,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “Already in 2017, Armada sales are up nearly 156 percent – meaning a lot of people are in agreement with the experts at Popular Mechanics.”

An 8.0-inch color display, a 13-speaker Bose® audio system, heated front seats, and Nissan Navigation with NavTraffic and NavWeather information (with a purchased subscription to SiriusXM®) come standard in the 2017 Nissan Armada.

Additional trim levels—available in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options–for the 2017 Nissan Armada include the SV, SL, and Platinum. Available security and safety technologies include Blind Spot Intervention (BSI), Around View® Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD), and Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW).

“The durable independent double-wishbone front and rear suspension provides smooth ride comfort and responsive handling for both on-road and off-road driving,” according to Nissan.
