The Toyota Camry’s affordability is probably among the reasons it is one of the best-selling cars in America. Toyota must be aware of this, as they have announced that the new 2017 Camry’s price will remain unchanged, despite some significant trim upgrades.

Most of the new goodies come in the form of electronics; for example, the XSE four-cylinder, XLE, and XLE hybrid are all receiving Qi wireless phone charging, and the Toyota Entune infotainment display with navigation is also being added to the XSE and XLE trims, along with a JLB audio system.

The Toyota Camry already offers Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the XSE and XLE for extra safety, but for 2017 all models now also come standard with the STAR safety system, which includes vehicle stability control, traction control, brake assist, anti-lock braking, and electronic brake-force distribution; though it has to be said, those are the kinds of passive safety technologies we expect all cars to have in this day and age.

Under the hood, the 2017 Toyota Camry is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 178 horsepower or a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 268 hp. The hybrid combines a 2.5-liter Atkinson four-cylinder with a high-torque electric motor to produce 200 hp; it is expected to get 32 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway.

Buying vs. Leasing: The pros and cons

Despite all of these improvements to look forward to, the 2017 Toyota Camry’s base MSRP remains $23,070, including delivery fees, exactly the same as the current model. The base price for all trim levels remains unchained as well.

Love or hate the Camry, car shoppers have only to gain from this.
