The Chevy Camaro GT4.R will make its debut at the upcoming Pirelli World Challenge event in Florida

Today Chevrolet revealed details of the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE, the track-ready leader of its 2018 Camaro lineup.

The new 1LE features a racing-based suspension and aero technologies, as well as Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R summer-only tires, making it the most extreme track-focused Camaro to date.

Priced at $7,500, the ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package (order code A1Z) raises the total MSRP of the 2018 ZL1 1LE to $69,995, including the $995 destination freight charge.

“In the long, storied history of Camaro performance, there’s never been another model that matches the capability of the ZL1 1LE,” said Steve Majoros, Chevy’s cars and crossovers marketing director. “With the addition of the new 650-horsepower ZL1 1LE, the Camaro lineup is more diverse and exciting than ever, offering customers the ability to select and personalize their ultimate performance car.”

The 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE — the most track-capable Camaro ever — makes its world debut at the Chevrolet Experience Center Friday, February 24, 2017 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The new Camaro features special aero, adjustable suspension and exclusive tires that drive unprecedented performance for a production sports car.

Chevy Packages: Chevrolet Redline Package available on nine trims

Some highlights of the ZL1 1LE include a carbon fiber rear wing, specific air deflectors and dive planes on the front fascia that produce grip-generating downforce, making the car stick to the road harder. There are also racing-derived, lightweight Multimatic DSSV (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) dampers in the front and rear for improved wheel and vehicle control.

New lightweight forged aluminum front and rear wheels on the 1LE are an inch wider and an inch than standard ZL1 wheels, and are wrapped in new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires that feature a max lateral grip of 1.10g.

The combined savings of the lighter wheels and dampers, along with thinner rear glass and a fixed-back rear seat, shave a total of 60 pounds off the curb weight of the standard ZL1 Coupe.

The new ZL1 1LE is powered by a 650-horsepower, supercharged LT4 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission featuring Active Rev Match.

Other highlights include Brembo brakes, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose premium audio system, heated/ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The performance-oriented 1LE package is offered on LS, LT, SS and ZL1 Camaro coupes, with unique track-focused content specific to each model. Additionally, SS models on the 1LE package are now available with the uplevel 2SS trim.

The 2018 Camaro lineup goes on sale this summer.
