Chevrolet’s roll-out of the next-generation Equinox has already racked up acclaim from drivers and critics worldwide and helped to bolster its continued crossover sales momentum to an even more significant degree. In the aim of making its brand of utility vehicles a truly global phenomenon, Chevy last month announced that the redesigned 2018 Equinox will be made available to drivers in the Middle East come this September.

“The Equinox is Chevrolet’s best-selling crossover in USA and we are extremely excited to introduce the nameplate in its latest iteration to our region,” said Ahmed Soudodi, Head of Brand, Chevrolet Middle East. “Equinox’s regional introduction reinforces Chevrolet’s competitive position in this segment, and positions the brand well for the coming years with a mature yet fresh line-up of crossovers; [the 2018 Equinox is] preceded by the refreshed 2017 Trax, and followed by the next-generation 2018 Traverse later this year.”

Of great appeal to drivers in the Middle East will be the 2018 Equinox Premier, which Soudodi notes provides best-in-class safety features and the introduction of GM’s new nine-speed transmission to the region.

The new 2018 Equinox is up to 180 kg (397 lb) lighter than the outgoing model, making it lighter and more aerodynamic than the previous generation. It will be offered with infotainment and connectivity features including available seven- and eight-inch MyLink touchscreen displays with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

New safety features available with the Equinox include Safety Seat Alert, Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator, Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Seat Reminder.

Details with regards to powertrains, available trims, and pricing will be available closer to the Equinox’s September launch.
