2018 Chevy Equinox Goes On Sale for $24,525
The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox crossover is on sale now, carrying a starting price of $24,525 (including destination charge, though excluding tax, title, license, and dealer fees extra).
The newly redesigned 2018 model is nearly 400 pounds lighter than the previous model, representing a 10% weight decrease. The slimmed-down crossover provides a nimbler, more responsive, and more refined driving experience. The all-new body, in addition to being lighter, was also designed and optimized to achieve top safety ratings.
“Think of it as core strength training,” said Jill Dennis, the project’s lead development engineer. “The new Equinox’s structure is leaner yet stronger, resulting in efficient performance that inspires confidence while also creating a more fun, safe and comfortable driving experience.”
By lowering its curb weight, the Equinox’s all-new, mass-efficient body structure allows it to make the most of the available turbo engine options. The 1.5-liter turbo engine combines fuel efficiency and performance, while those who value power can opt for the throatier 2.0-liter turbo engine, which yields 252 horsepower (188 kW) and can speed from 0-to-60-mph in an estimated 7.2 seconds.
The 1.5-liter turbo engine option is available at dealerships now, while the quicker 2.0-liter turbo engine option does not arrive at dealer lots until later this month. The 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter yield EPA-estimated ratings of 32 mpg and 29 mpg highway, respectively, while the Equinox’s new 1.6-liter diesel model provides a GM-estimated 40 mpg highway fuel efficiency.
“From accelerating to turning corners, the 2018 Equinox drives ‘lighter,’ which correlates with a greater feeling of precision,” said Dennis. “It’s a dynamic, agile driving experience rooted in the solidity of the all-new body structure.”
