Consumer Reports has just announced its 2018 “Best Car of the Year” list; once again, the Chevy Impala garners the award for the large car category.

Vehicles in the competition are judged based on four key features, including safety, reliability, owner satisfaction, and road test performance. It boasts a 3.6-liter V6 engine under the hood, for energy that you can count on each time you embark on a new adventure.

According to Consumer Reports, the competition judges were impressed with the sedan’s pleasing response, secure handling, and capable braking. Comfortable seating and a quiet cabin contribute to a delightful drive for both front and back seat passengers.

Modern connectivity features, such as wireless charging and Apple CarPlay, provide a diversion during long drives, while advanced safety features such as automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning lend an extra layer of security to the car’s defenses.

Patrick Olsen, lead autos editor with Consumer Reports, articulated his own praise of the 2018 Chevy Impala, claiming it “offers a luxurious ride […]at an affordable price.” He also related, “Its got a spacious cabin that’s also quiet. Its handling is commendable, especially for its size.”

If you’re on the market for a new passenger vehicle for commuting or for transporting your family, the new Chevy Impala is worth a test drive. After all, not everyone wants (or needs) the extra volume that a crossover or SUV has. Despite the popularity of these two categories, the conventional sedan style will continue to hold its own in the market.
