What’s New for the 2018 Ford Escape?

The SEL trim is an all-new addition to the Escape nameplate, giving drivers an additional option for customization for 2018. The SEL adds an extra level of luxury to the Escape, with leather-trimmed front bucket seats, heated exterior mirrors, and a power liftgate. This year’s Ford Escape also adds the new 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine to the Titanium trim.

Sculpted definition across the Ford Escape’s exterior gives it an athletic stance that many have come to admire. 17-inch steel wheels carve out an entrance for the Escape, with available 18-inch wheel upgrades on tap. A power liftgate is available on the SEL, making it even easier for you to gain access to your vehicle’s cargo bay, even if you have your hands full.

The 2018 Ford Escape is available in 10 exterior colors: Ruby Red, White Platinum, Lightning Blue, Blue Metallic, Cinnamon Glaze, Magnetic, Oxford White, Ingot Silver, White Gold, and Shadow Black.

2018 Ford Escape Performance

When choosing your Ford Escape, you can opt for one of three powertrains; all engines are paired to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The first engine is a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine, producing 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque; the 2.5-liter comes standard on the S. Upgrading just slightly on power is the 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, available on the SE and SEL, that produces 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The maximum-power engine is available on the Titanium: a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, producing 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque.

The 2.5-liter four-cylinder is only available with front-wheel drive configurations; the EcoBoost engines can be paired to front-wheel drive (FWD) or Intelligent four-wheel drive (4WD).

With an all-new trim option, the SEL, you can customize the Ford Escape even more to your lifestyle. The standard, base trim comes with cloth front bucket seats, but you can upgrade those to leather-trimmed front bucket seats on the SEL. The SEL also comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, and a SYNC 3 system. For further upgrades, look to the Titanium, which comes with ambient lighting and a heated steering wheel.
