With a massive powertrain and a tough, rugged exterior to tackle any job, it’s no wonder the GMC Sierra 2500HD is a popular pickup. The heavy-duty Denali trim can be equipped with a staggering Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo Diesel V8 engine, producing 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.

This year, Truck Trend is recognizing the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali as its Pickup Truck of the Year.

“With a long list of numbers-based wins and an equally impressive amount of subjective praise, there’s just no beating this GMC for our 2018 Pickup Truck of the Year title,” said Truck Trend contributor Jered Korfhage.

On top of its muscular powertrain, the Sierra 2500HD Denali is, after all, the range-topping trim, meaning it comes with the best of the best features. On the inside, you’ll find luxury leather-appointed seats with heating and ventilation, as well as a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel and a Bose sound system.

While some of the judges were put off by the complexity of the infotainment system, most agreed that the tech was fairly straightforward. “The infotainment center was relatively simple and provided a reliable mobile 4G-LTE internet hotspot,” said Korfhage. “Overall, despite the feelings of the minority, the Intellilink system was among the best of the bunch.”

You can tell the Sierra 2500HD Denali apart from its other trims by a few exterior quirks. The Denali gets its own unique chrome grille and 20-inch chromed aluminum wheels. For added convenience, the Denali also comes with 6-inch chromed assist steps and a spray-on bed liner.

With all of this in mind, Truck Trend evaluated the Sierra 2500HD Denali’s off-road capabilities, which were rough but capable, and compared it to the competition. Overall, Truck Trend decided on the GMC as the top choice.
