2018 Honda CR-V

The 2018 Honda CR-V, the best-selling SUV in the United States for the past 20 years, has finally arrived in showrooms around the country with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $24,150 for the base LX, front-wheel drive trim and $34,050 for the top-of-the-line, all-wheel-drive Touring.

That represents a $105 price bump over the base price of the 2017 model and in return—well, in return you get nothing, though the cost of buying a new Honda CR-V is still less than buying a Toyota RAV4, its main competitor, which starts at $25,405.

Nonetheless, there are significant changes for the 2018 Honda CR-V—you just have to get anything but the lowest trim to see them. The EX, EX-L, and Touring are now all equipped by default with an all-new, turbocharged, 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder that makes up to 190 horsepower and that has done a successful job speeding up the CR-V. According to Motor Trend, it now accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in only 7.5 seconds, down from 8.3 seconds for the 2017 model. That’s actually rather quick for an SUV and the CR-V pulls this off while being quieter and more fuel-efficient than before.

Another change is the additional of standard Honda Sensing technology, which includes lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following, lane keeping assistance, collision braking mitigation, and forward collision warning with pedestrian sensing. To summarize, if you want a 2018 Honda CR-V, you’ll get much better value choosing any trim other than the LX.
