The 2018 Jeep Wrangler’s new-four cylinder turbo engine is what caught the attention of U.S. News & World Report editors and secured it a spot on the publication’s list of Fastest Cars for the Money in 2018.

“Not only does it have the wide torque band that comes from having a turbocharger, but it features a mild hybrid system that uses an electric motor to give you a quick energy boost as you start moving,” reports John M. Vincent.

According to Vincent, the Wrangler’s lowish score — 7.8 out of 10 — reflects its “unrefined on-road performance.”

Unleash the 2018 Wrangler on rough terrain, though, and you’ve got a frontrunner due to the Wrangler’s “nearly unstoppable” and “world-class off-road capabilities,” he adds.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is available in four off-road-ready four-door trim levels (Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon), and three two-door trim levels (Sport, Sport S, and Rubicon). Each trim is powered by a standard 3.6-liter V6 24-valve VVT Engine Upg I or the available 2.0-liter I4 DOHC DI Turbo eTorque engine. These engines can be paired with either a standard six-speed manual or an available eight-speed automatic transmission.

For your infotainment needs, you’ll appreciate the Uconnect 3 with a 5-inch touchscreen display that’s standard in the Sport and Sport-S. The Sahara and Rubicon feature the Uconnect 4 system, which delivers crystal clear information on a 7-inch touchscreen display. You’ll stay seamlessly connected to your favorite smartphone apps with Apple CarPlay capability, a standard feature in the Sahara and Rubicon trims. Integrated Voice Command with Bluetooth is standard across all four trims.

You’ll feel more confident taking the Wrangler off the beaten path thanks to standard safety technologies such as Advanced Brake Assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, ParkView Rear Back Up Camera, Traction Control, and Trailer Sway Damping.
