2017 Mazda CX-9

The Mazda CX-9 is the brand’s stately flagship SUV, and for 2018, the brand has announced a list of improvements along with a small price increase.

To begin, the starting MSRP of the CX-9 is now $32,130, an increase of $610 over last year. Of course, Mazda isn’t worried about the price increase putting off buyers, as it reports that more than 55% of the CX-9s sold in the US were Grand Touring or Signature models filled with optional features.

In addition, for that extra $610, the CX-9 gets some significant updates. Some of the top improvements are available at all price points, like an improved second row of seats, to offer better comfort and access to the third row, as well as stronger sound insulation in an already-quiet cabin.

All CX-9 models will come equipped with Smart City Brake Support, or Mazda’s low-speed automatic-braking system, as the brand promised it would do for the majority of its lineup. The CX-9 is also getting other active safety systems made standard, namely Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Then, the CX-9 is also getting the brand’s G-Vectoring Control system, which increases control in hard turns by modulating engine torque to slightly shift the vehicle’s weight onto the front wheels.

The individual trim levels also get new standard and available features.

The base Sport trim adds an optional package, which includes auto on/off headlights, High Beam Control, Lane Departure, Lane-Keep Assist, Smart Brake Support, rain-sensing wipers, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, and full-speed Mazda Radar Cruise Control.

The Touring trim gets leather seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a universal garage door opener, a power liftgate, Advanced Keyless Entry, an 8-inch MAZDA CONNECT™ screen, and a tilt function added to the driver and front passenger’s power seats.

Finally, the Grand Touring trim level receives heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and a windshield wiper de-icer.

The CX-9 is available in dealerships this month, and the MSRP of all models is as outlined in the following graph, provided by Mazda.
