2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS Earns Spot on US News’ List of Most Reliable Luxury Cars

When you invest in a luxury car, you’re expecting a lot — powerful performance, outstanding style, a comfortable cabin, and advanced technology features. And, of course, you want your luxury car to go the distance. According to U.S. News & World Report, if you’re looking for reliability, you need to consider the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS, which was named to the pub’s list of the 23 Most Reliable Luxury Cars in 2018.

Vehicles making the list earned above average reliability scores from J.D. Power, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS, which earned a U.S. News score of 8.9/10, was praised for its style, space, safety features and powerful twin turbocharged engines.

“If you need to ferry the family and then some, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class comes with three rows of well-appointed seating,” notes U.S. News writer Kristen Hall-Geisler. “There’s plenty of cargo space, even with all seats in use, and there are several standard safety systems, including active brake assist and drowsy driver monitoring.”

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS is available at three trim levels: 450, 550, and AMG GLS 63.

The standard 3.0-liter biturbo engine paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission generates 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Paired to the same transmission, the GLS 550 trim’s 4.7-liter biturbo V8 churns out 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The AMG GLS 63 features a 5.5-liter biturbo V8 and AMG SPEEDSHIFT® PLUS seven-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles to produce a whopping 577 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque.
