Driving in wintry weather conditions can pose difficulty for even the fastest, smoothest performing and most-fun-to-drive cars, but with the option of all-wheel drive, you can retain a thrilling driving experience and the feeling of greater control. Rounding up the 15 Best AWD Sports Cars, the editors at U.S. News and World Report singled out the 2018 Nissan GT-R for its intense performance.

“The Nissan GT-R has begun to show its age. Its interior styling and materials are light on luxury, and its tech features are fairly outdated. None of that really matters though, because the GT-R remains one of the meanest performance cars on the market,” writes U.S. News & World Report writer Zach Doell.

The 2018 GT-R is available at four trim levels: Pure, Premium, Track Edition, and NISMO. The Pure, Premium, and Track Edition trims are powered by a formidable 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 paired to a dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters to churn out 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. The NISMO trim is equipped with a road-shaking 600 horsepower-rated NISMO-tuned 3.8-liter high-capacity twin-turbocharged V6 paired to a dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters to produce 481 lb-ft of torque.

“The GT-R accelerates ferociously, and its ‘Attesa’ all-wheel drive system practically glues the car to the road when bounding around turns,” says Doell.

The NISMO trim is further set apart with interior styling, which features NISMO Recaro leather-appointed front seats with synthetic suede inserts, NISMO black/red interior treatment, and a NISMO Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.
